National Young Leaders Day

On Monday the 30th of May year 8 went all the way to Dunedin to celebrate National Young Leaders Day at the Octagon Hall . We played a lot of games including Mr C, he got up on the stage and competed against teachers then kids . We also played a game with a coin head or tail and I won so I got a free Avalanche city album.  We met a whole lot of leaders and role models, who would never give up when when the come across hard obstacles. I learnt from Billy Graham to put others before me and that even if you have a little bit of talent as long as you work hard you can achieve anything. From James Beck I learnt that the easy thing to do isn't always right even though you keep telling yourself that it wasn't.
From Brylee Mills I learnt even when you come  across a huge obstacle like being disabled in a way doesn't mean that that's it, you can't achieve anything anymore but as long as you believe and try hard you can do the impossible. In the end we got to see a performance from the singer from  Avalanche City who sung two songs and they were great.

After this day I realized that as long as I try I can conquer anything, even if others say that you can't.

For this term our main focus is science, for my science project I'm doing Horticulture. Specifically the difference between how a plant can grow with artificial light and the sun and how a plant gets vitamins from artificial light like the sun.

Visit from Czesia

Yesterday we got a visit from a lady who suffered alot during the 2nd world war, it was very sad to hear what she had to go through at such a young age. She was from Poland and she was transported through Europe, living in harsh conditions with the winter snow and the  temperature would go down to -40 degrees. She wrote a book with the name of her land Chmielòw and the sub title is Our Paradise Lost which
showed where she lived, where she was transported and mostly about her story.

School holidays

School has started and the first day  was fun, a bit tiring and exciting.  It was very good to see all my friends after a very long time , all of my other classmates and meet my new teacher Mr C. In the holidays the most exciting thing was to go to roxburgh to pick up my mum who was working in a packhouse.
